While undertaking this"Mancini" project I had the opportunity to analyse and go through all the high-end fashion websites( like I needed another reason to) and get a better understanding. When people visit a retail store online, they're not just paying for the product, they pay for the experience. A well-designed website should invoke a sense of excitement in them. From scouring through several Fashion websites and Fashion website designs by UI/UX experts there are a few points key points that I observed.

Unconventional choice of colour and print:
Perhaps the concept of "less is more" works in any other industry but when it comes to fashion the more the merrier. The bold choice of colour combined with the right typeface emotes just the right feeling. If we take a look at these venerable good old luxury brands such as Gucci, Tiffany& Co, Manolo Blahnik, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry etc traditionally use Geometric sans and Traditional serif as their primary font style.

Consistent Brand Identity:

I understand that consistent visual brand imagery is essential across all industries but one major field it is of vital importance is the fashion industry. To build a compelling fashion website we need more than just a logo. A consistent theme with font style, colour palette needs to be utilised to complete the brand identity.

Smart use of negative space:
Good use of negative space makes a world of difference. Negative space provides a cushion, a breathing room for all the design elements. UI designers/developers often use negative space just as how a musician uses silence between his notes.

Mancini Shoes is a self-assigned project that I undertook to understand responsive designs well. The design itself is a play on the very popular "Louboutins". I wanted to design something that screamed high-end fashion. I used all the aforementioned key points as a set of guidelines to come up with this product. The vivacious design combined with the right scarlet shade provided just the look I was hoping to get.
